THE CHALLENGE
A family of four with two teenage children fell in love with a river-adjacent property when they first moved to the Sugar Land area. They loved their lot, but the home was small, deteriorating, and simply wasn’t their style. They considered remodeling, but after consulting with our team, the family decided that building a new home would better meet their space needs and design aspirations.
THE PROCESS
Derek James Homes worked to blend their styles together with form and function, while remaining within a manageable budget. In collaboration with the homeowners and their designer, we integrated features like a floating steel staircase with white oak treads, 800-bottle wine room, whole-house vacuum system, flush modern cabinetry, expansive patios, indoor-outdoor fireplace, all while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
THE RESULT
Through collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking, our team ultimately delivered a home that brought the client’s high-end design vision to life, without exceeding their budget. The finished house quickly became a home full of natural light, unique finishes, and shared memories that will continue for years to come.
