THE ASK
After their previous home flooded in 2017, the retired homeowners faced the difficult decision to either renovate or tear down their home and build a new, dream retirement home. They wanted a safe, elevated home to avoid future flooding, and embraced the opportunity for a new design with updated doors and windows, along with an elevator.
THE PROCESS
Derek James Homes built a home that embraced the client’s vision for entertainment and comfort. The design maximized the corner lot’s smaller footprint by incorporating multi-tiered outdoor entertainment areas including a pool and summer kitchen, and providing seamless indoor-outdoor access. The open-concept floor plan offered stunning views from every room.
Other features included a unique three-sided fireplace in the living area and a dedicated wine room under the stairs. To achieve the desired amount of natural light without exceeding the budget, RAM windows and doors provided windows that offered both elegance and efficiency.
THE RESULT
The completed home was a perfect blend of style and functionality, showcasing modern and transitional elements that catered to the homeowners’ retirement lifestyle. With a focus on accessibility, the residence included an elevator for ease of movement between floors and linear vents to maintain a clean ceiling aesthetic. We couldn’t be happier with how this home turned out.
