The home is designed with a transitional and craftsman aesthetic, covering 2,310 air-conditioned square feet and 4,500 square feet of covered space. It features 2 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a large wrap-around patio, a screened-in deck off the primary bedroom, and an oversized 4-car tandem garage with a pool bath. Amenities include a custom library with fireplace for cozy reading, elevated kitchen cabinets to ease back pain, and a shower/tub enclosure.

Project Details

THE CHALLENGE

The client, a busy executive, was looking for a low-maintenance home that would provide years of enjoyment for herself and her dogs. She wanted a new home that wasn’t overly large but had high-quality, spacious amenities. Derek James Homes was chosen to create a “forever home” that would suit her lifestyle and accommodate her furry friends.

THE PROCESS

The client desired a home that balanced size and functionality. She wanted spacious primary amenities but not an excessively large space, and a design that could accommodate her pets while ensuring a cohesive flow. To meet these needs, Derek James Homes designed a wrap-around patio that allows movement from the rear of the house to the front door, either through the house or outside on the patio. The team also included pet-friendly features like tile floors to prevent damage and a dog wash station with pullout stairs in a large utility room.

THE RESULT

Derek James Homes used their expertise to incorporate unique features like an oversized garage, an elevated crawl space, beadboard ceilings on the patio, and a garage-attached bathroom. Despite challenges, we worked closely with the client to navigate these decisions and deliver a home that met her vision. The result is a well-designed, pet-friendly home that provides both comfort and style, ensuring the client is satisfied with her
new space.
